delirious denver
This studio, in tandem with PCI (Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute), sought to combine the lifestyle of the suburban in the urban setting. Inspired by Rem Koolhaas’ 1978 Delirious New York, we worked to create a concrete superstructure on our urban site in which suburban style homes are inserted. Our vertical extrusion on the virgin site embraces the skyscraper and the automobile. Residents drive up a ramp to their stand alone home and park in their own garage, play in their private yard, and enjoy the feeling of ownership within their neighborhood street. Sun studies led to a formal organization that maximizes light and sun for all residents. Public amenities such as a grocery, theater, gym, and basketball court fill the lower floors while private residences populate the upper floors at this intersection of the urban and suburban in Denver, Colorado.
